1. Children's Rights Alliance: Seminar to launch guide to children's EU Law rights, Dublin


Childrens Rights Alliance logoThe Children’s Rights Alliance  invites you to a seminar to mark the launch of A Guide to Children’s Rights under European Union Law in Ireland. It takes place in European Union House, Dawson Street, Dublin 2, from 9.30am to 1pm on Friday 13 December. Registration is at 9.15am, event to commence at 9.30am sharp.


Speakers on the day will include Eilis Barry, Barrister; Hilkka Becker, Immigrant Council of Ireland; Billy Hawkes, Data Protection Commissioner; Natalie McDonnell, Barrister; Geoffrey Shannon, Special Rapporteur on Child Protection. 2. TJI: Seminar - Groundhog Day: Five Years on from the Bill of Rights Advice - Belfast & Derry/Londonderry


NI Human Rights Festival logoOn 10 December, 2008 the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission delivered its long awaited advice on a Bill of Rights for Northern Ireland to the Secretary of State. During the last five years we have seen the Secretary of State’s controversial response to this advice and the completion of a report on a UK Bill of Rights. We have also seen the issue of a Bill of Rights for Northern Ireland raised before UN human rights bodies. Our five speakers will be addressing the issues of Why no bill of Rights five years on; Why Northern Ireland (still) needs a Bill of Rights; Where to from here?

3. Nasc & Cois Tine: Wine Tasting Fundraiser, Cork.


NASC wine tasting flyer smNasc, the Irish Immigrant Support Centre and Cois Tine will be marking International Human Rights Week with our Annual Wine Tasting Fundraising to support our work to promote and protect the human rights of migrants in Ireland.  The event will take place on Friday 13 December 2013 at 7 PM in Nasc's event room in Ferry Lane, off Dominic Street in Cork.  Tickets are €20 and can be purchased from Nasc or Cois Tine.

 4. ICCL: ICCL/Youthreach Human Rights Competition - prizegiving ceremony, Dublin


The prizegiving ceremony for the third annual ICCL/Youthreach Human Rights Competition is taking place in the Office of the Ombudsman for Children (by invitation only).


Run with the support of the Ireland Funds and UNICEF Ireland, the ICCL/Youthreach Human Rights Competition calls on young people in Youthreach centres nationwide to give voice to human rights issues they are passionate about using their creativity, imagination and skill.
